[Source] Medicinal material source: the flowers and fruits of Syringa yunnanensis or Syringa yunnanensis of the Rubiaceae family.

[Original morphology] 1. Yunnan Osmanthus fragrans, a shrub, 4-5m high, with brown twigs and tiny yellow lenticels. Leaves are opposite; petiole 1-1.5cm long, pubescent; stipules triangular, caducous; leaf blade papery, oblong or oblong-lanceolate, 10-15cm long, 2.5-6cm wide, shortly acuminate at apex, cuneate at base, pubescent along midrib and lateral veins below, entire. The cymes are arranged in corymbs; the peduncle is 1-2 cm long; the bracts are linear, 1-1.5 cm long; the pedicel is 0.5 mm long; the calyx tube is gyroid, 5-6 mm long, with 5 lobes, lanceolate, 1 cm long, and 3 veins; the corolla is red or pink, the corolla tube is 3 cm long, and the tip is 5-lobed; the lobes are oblong, 1.5 cm long. Each side of the corolla has a distinct, wavy-edged plate connected to the base; the stamens have short filaments and are located at the throat of the corolla tube; the ovary has two chambers and two stigmas, which are club-shaped. The capsule is long and gyroid, 2-2.5 cm long, 8-10 mm in diameter, and has 10 longitudinal ridges. Seeds have wings at both ends. Flowering period is July-August.
