Meridians:

Functions and indications: Nourishes blood and stops bleeding; astringes the intestines and consolidates semen.

It is used to treat blood deficiency and physical weakness; vomiting blood; epistaxis; coughing up blood due to overwork; blood in the stool; metrorrhagia; spermatorrhea; leucorrhea; dysentery; rectal prolapse; burns; and bleeding due to trauma. Astringent and hemostatic.

Root: dispels wind and activates collaterals, astringes and stops diarrhea. Used for acute and chronic gastroenteritis, stomachache, indigestion, hepatitis, dysentery, rheumatoid arthritis, lumbar muscle strain, functional uterine bleeding, and rectal prolapse; used externally to treat burns and scalds.

The root contains phenols, tannins, etc., and can treat chronic dysentery, rheumatism, hepatitis and lower blood lipids.

Leaves: astringent, antidiarrheal and hemostatic.

Used for acute gastroenteritis, indigestion, dysentery: used externally to treat bleeding from trauma.

Fruit: Nourishes the blood, nourishes, and stabilizes the fetus. Used for anemia, physical weakness after illness, neurasthenia, tinnitus, and spermatorrhea.

Usage and dosage of Myrtle

For internal use: decoction, 6-15g, fresh product 15-30g; or soak in wine.

For external use: take appropriate amount, grind into powder and apply on the affected area.

Roots, leaves and fruits 0.5-1 liang; roots and leaves are used externally in appropriate amounts.

For internal use: decoction, 6-15g.

For internal use: decoct in water, 2-4 qian.

Children may have difficulty in defecation if they eat this.
