Four major effects of Huanglian Houpu Decoction

Coptis chinensis and Magnolia bark are two different Chinese medicinal materials, each of which has good therapeutic effects. [Prescription] Coptis chinensis 1 liang 1 fen (remove the beard), Magnolia officinalis (remove the rough skin and roast with ginger juice) 1 liang 1 fen, Morus ear 1 liang and a half, Poria cocos 1 liang and a half (remove the wood), Tianxiong 1 liang and a half (cracked, peeled and navel removed), Belamcanda 1 liang and a half, Astragalus (filed and fried) 1 liang and a half, Daizhe 1 liang (crushed), Citrus aurantium 1 liang (remove the pulp and stir-fry with bran), Platycodon 1 liang (filed and fried), Sanguisorba officinalis 1 liang, Angelica sinensis (cut and roasted) 1 liang, Atractylodes macrocephala 0.5 liang (filed and fried), cinnamon 0.5 liang (remove the rough skin), Scutellaria baicalensis (remove the black core) 0.5 liang.

[Preparation method] Chew the upper part into pieces as big as sesame seeds.

【Functions and indications】Irregular menstruation in women.

[Usage and Dosage] Take 3 spoonfuls each time, add 1 cup of water and 3 slices of ginger, boil for 70%, remove the residue and drink warm.

Huanglian Houpu Decoction Effect 2

[Prescription] 3 qian of Coptis chinensis and 2 qian of Magnolia officinalis.

【Functions and indications】Typhoid fever. Fever and thirst, two days after the onset of the disease, bowel movements began day and night.

[Usage and Dosage] Chew on the upper side. Use a small piece of ginger, chop it into pieces, mix it with the medicine, add wine and stir evenly, fry the medicine in a casserole over low heat until the wine is dry, remove the ginger and take one dose. Use 1.5 cups of water, boil for 7 minutes, remove the residue, drink it while warm, and boil the residue again.

Huanglian Houpu Decoction Effect 3

[Prescription] Coptis chinensis 8 fen, Magnolia officinalis 6 fen (processed), donkey-hide gelatin 6 fen, Angelica sinensis 6 fen, Artemisia argyi 4 fen, Phellodendron chinense 4 fen, and dried ginger 5 fen.

【Functions and indications】Abdominal pain during pregnancy, diarrhea with pus and blood.

[Usage and Dosage] Grind the above into fine powder. Take one inch spoonful each time, on an empty stomach with rice drink, 3 times a day; or decoct in water and drink.

Huanglian Houpu Decoction Effect Four

[Prescription] 1 qian of Coptis chinensis (fried with wine), 1 qian of Hawthorn meat, 1 qian of Forsythia suspensa, 1 qian of Tangerine peel, 1 qian of Gardenia jasminoides, 5 fen of Bupleurum, 1 qian of Magnolia officinalis, and 2.5 qian of Liuyi powder.

[Functions and indications] Bloating, a round abdomen and hard stools, a strong and rapid pulse are due to heat accumulation in the heart and spleen meridians, which suppress metal and water, and the clear qi of the lungs and stomach cannot rise, resulting in the failure of the downward moistening function.

[Usage and Dosage] Add ginger, decoct in water, and drink hot at 2 o'clock in the morning.
