Qinpi is a traditional Chinese medicine that grows mostly on hillsides and in forests. It can be found in the three northeastern provinces, Henan, Hebei and other places. Qinpi is a common traditional Chinese medicine with strong vitality. It is mainly used to treat diarrhea caused by heat and toxicity, leucorrhea, red and swollen eyes, and eye cataracts. From this we know that the main function of Qinpi is to clear away heat, remove fire and resist inflammation.

(1) Qinpi has anti-allergic and antispasmodic effects

1. Anti-allergic: Fraxin has a significant protective effect on vasoconstriction caused by leukotrienes released in allergic reactions.

2. Antispasmodic: Fraxin has an inhibitory effect on intestinal smooth muscle. Fraxinus can counteract the spasm of tracheal smooth muscle caused by histamine and relax the tracheal smooth muscle.

3. Antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic: Both aesculin A and aesculin E have obvious antitussive, expectorant and antiasthmatic effects.

(ii) Sedation, analgesia and anticonvulsant: Both aesculin A and aesculetin have obvious sedative effects. Fraxinus has significant analgesic and anticonvulsant effects.

(III) Promote uric acid excretion and diuresis: Qinpixin can promote uric acid excretion in rats and rabbits. Its mechanism is to excite the sympathetic nervous system and inhibit the reabsorption of uric acid by the kidneys. Fraxinus glycoside has a diuretic effect. Aesculin has a significant diuretic effect on mice.
