Can Cordyceps really lower blood sugar?

Cordyceps is a very precious medicinal material. The most famous one is Cordyceps sinensis, which is a very precious and rare medicinal material, but the medicinal effects of each different Chinese medicinal material are different. Although medicinal materials are very precious, we must understand their medicinal properties and effects clearly in order to better play their role. So what are the effects and functions of Cordyceps? Can Cordyceps be used to lower blood sugar?

Cordyceps militaris is the abbreviation of northern cordyceps, also known as Cordyceps militaris or pupa grass, which is mainly distributed in Jilin, Hebei, Shaanxi and other provinces in my country. Its main chemical components, pharmacology and efficacy are very similar to those of wild Cordyceps sinensis. Tests by authoritative departments such as the Drug Research and Analysis Laboratory of the Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences and the Physical and Chemical Testing Center of the Shenyang Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences have shown that some of the main nutrients and medicinal ingredients of Cordyceps militaris, such as cordycepin, cordyceps polysaccharides, and protein, are even higher than those of Cordyceps sinensis.

According to the "National Compilation of Chinese Herbal Medicines", "The fruiting body and insect body of Cordyceps sinensis can be used as Cordyceps sinensis medicine." Therefore, the pharmacological functions and clinical effects of Cordyceps sinensis are basically the same as those of wild Cordyceps sinensis. Modern medical research shows that Cordyceps sinensis is not only rich in protein (the content is 39.37%, which is 1.8, 1.5 and 1.9 times the protein content of pork, beef and mutton) and amino acids, but also contains more than 30 trace elements needed by the human body. The content of P (phosphorus) is the highest in Cordyceps sinensis.

The content of Zn (zinc), Cu (copper) and Fe (iron) is 1.8, 2.1 and 8.8 times the average of 28 tonics, and the content of Se (selenium) is equivalent to that of Astragalus. Therefore, Cordyceps sinensis has many functions such as hypnosis and sedation, liver and kidney benefit, deficiency and damage tonification, cancer prevention, anti-cancer, hemostasis, phlegm, and asthma relief. It is known as the three major tonics in the treasure house of traditional Chinese medicine together with ginseng and deer antler.

In "Bencao Congxin", it is recorded that it has therapeutic effects such as "sweet and mild, protecting the lungs, benefiting the kidneys, replenishing the essence and marrow, stopping bleeding and resolving phlegm". Because Cordyceps enters the lung and kidney meridians, it can both replenish lung yin and kidney yang. It is the only Chinese medicine that can balance and regulate yin and yang at the same time.

The above article introduces in detail the effects and functions of Cordyceps. Cordyceps is a very good aphrodisiac. Men can choose Cordyceps for physical nourishment, but Cordyceps should not be taken too much. In addition to drinking it in water, it can also be added to chicken soup and other foods for conditioning in the form of medicinal diet. This method is an option.
