Knowledge about American ginseng and Panax quinquefolius

We all know that ginseng is very effective in treating diseases. No matter what disease it is, as long as ginseng is used to boil medicine, the disease will be better controlled. There are many types of ginseng, such as American ginseng and American ginseng. I think these two types of ginseng are the largest ones that everyone has heard of in life. Today I will tell you about the effects of these two types of ginseng.

The main producing areas of American ginseng are the United States, Canada, France and other countries. Because the American flag is the Stars and Stripes, it is given the name "American ginseng". In recent years, my country has also successfully introduced the species. American ginseng mainly contains ginsenosides and other beneficial ingredients. Data obtained by Chinese researchers using modern testing methods on Jilin ginseng and domestic American ginseng showed that both contain more than 15 trace elements, among which the content of potassium, cobalt, nickel, copper, zinc, manganese, molybdenum, and selenium in American ginseng is higher than that in ginseng. American ginseng is bitter, sweet and cool in nature, and enters the lung and stomach meridians. The main root is cylindrical and long, bell-shaped, 2-6cm long and 0.5-1.7cm in diameter. The main effects of American ginseng are to nourish the lungs and reduce internal heat, nourish the stomach and produce body fluids. It is generally used to treat symptoms such as yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire, wheezing, coughing and sputum with blood, damage to both qi and yin due to febrile disease, fatigue and thirst, lack of body fluid, dry mouth and tongue, intestinal heat and bloody stool. Ginseng is sweet, slightly bitter and slightly warm in nature. It enters the spleen and lung meridians. The main root is about 5-20cm long and 1-3cm in diameter. It is used to treat symptoms such as qi deficiency and collapse, spleen deficiency, lung qi deficiency, thirst due to loss of body fluid, restlessness, insomnia, palpitations and forgetfulness, qi deficiency and impotence. Although American ginseng and ginseng belong to the same family and genus, and are both perennial herbs in the Araliaceae family, their specific varieties are different. Chinese Pharmacopoeia states: "American ginseng nourishes and reduces fire, while ginseng invigorates qi and helps fire, with opposite effects. For those who suffer from yin deficiency and hyperactivity of fire, and long-term cough, if they use real American ginseng, their qi will be balanced and fire will be restrained, and their cough will gradually subside. If they use fake American ginseng, they will have red face and tongue coating, dry cough with blood in sputum, and dry mouth, which are all dangerous symptoms." Therefore, people should carefully distinguish when choosing ginseng. According to the theory of traditional Chinese medicine, the main function of American ginseng is to nourish the lungs, clear heat, nourish the stomach and produce body fluids. If you have symptoms such as dry mouth and thirst, persistent low fever, dry mouth and nose, red tongue with little or no coating, you can take American ginseng. However, it is not suitable for patients with external evil or damp-heat that has not been completely eliminated, or patients with symptoms of deficiency and cold. Ginseng is a long-standing and precious tonic. Its common ways of taking are as follows: 1. Grind into powder and swallow: Grind the ginseng into fine powder, take once a day, 2-3g each time, with warm water. 2. For tea drinking: cut the ginseng into thin slices, take 3-5g each time, put it in a teacup or thermos cup, and soak it in boiling water instead of tea. Generally, it can be soaked several times in a row, and then eaten together with the residue after the taste becomes lighter. 3. Steamed: Cut the ginseng into thin slices, take 6-9g and put it into a bowl with a lid or a small cup, add appropriate amount of water, and then steam it over low heat for 1 hour. Take it with the juice and residue.

After reading this article, I believe everyone has some understanding of the differences and effects of American ginseng and American ginseng. If you have patients or elderly people at home, you can buy them for them according to their efficacy. No need to worry about what to give as a gift anymore. Ginseng is the best and most decent gift. The elders will be very happy if they receive such a gift.
