[Original form] Large-bracted water bamboo leaves, creeping herb. The fibrous roots are numerous and thin. The stem is hairy. Basal leaves are clustered, linear or broad linear, 10-24cm long, 1-1.5cm wide; stem leaves are alternate, leaf blades are linear or oblong-lanceolate, 3-8cm long, 8-12mm wide, acute at the apex, sheath-like at the base, the leaf sheaths are hairy, glabrous on both sides or pubescent beneath. The flowers are densely packed in head inflorescences, growing at the ends of branches, with a diameter of about 1 cm; the pedicels are 2.5-5 cm long, with bracts of outer shape, 1-2.5 cm long and 6-8 mm wide; the pedicels are thick and short; the bracteoles are large and persistent, membranous, round, about 5 mm long, and arranged in a shingle-like manner; there are 3 sepals, oblong, about 4 mm long; there are 3 petals, blue or purple; there are 3 developed stamens, 3 reduced stamens, and filaments are hairy; the ovary is elliptical, and the style is almost the same length as the ovary. The capsule is ovate, with 3 edges, and each chamber contains 2 seeds. Seeds wrinkled. The flowering period is May, and the fruiting period is August-November.
