[Original form] Mountain Malan is a perennial herb, 50-100cm tall. Stem erect, solitary or in clusters of 2-3, grooved, covered with white upward-pointing rough hairs, branched above. Leaves alternate; sessile; leaf blade thick or nearly leathery. The lower leaves wither during anthesis; the middle leaves are lanceolate or oblong-lanceolate, 3-6cm long, rarely 9cm, 0.5-2cm wide, rarely to 4cm, gradually pointed or obtuse at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base, sparsely toothed or pinnately lobed, sparsely covered with short rough hairs or glabrous on both sides; the leaves on the branches are linear-lanceolate, entire. The capitula is solitary at the top of the branches and arranged in a corymbose shape, with a diameter of 2-3.5cm; the involucre is hemispherical, with a diameter of 10-14mm; the involucral bracts are 3 layers, the outer layer is shorter and oblong, the inner layer is oblanceolate-oblong, 5-6mm long, 2-3mm wide, with membranous edges and eyelashes; the ligulate flowers are light blue, 1.5-2cm long, 2-3mm wide, and the tube length is about 1.8mm; the tubular flowers are yellow, about 4mm long. Achenes are obovate, 3-4mm long, about 2mm high, flat, light brown, sparsely covered with short soft hairs, with light-colored marginal ribs or occasionally triangular; pappus is light red, 0.5-1mm long.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: grows on hillsides, grasslands or bushes.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter; cold

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; stops bleeding. It is mainly used to treat cold and fever, cough, acute pharyngitis, tonsillitis, infectious hepatitis, stomach, duodenal ulcer, sores, boils, swelling and infection, mastitis and bleeding due to trauma.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
