[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb or rhizome of Pteris nidus, a plant of the Aspleniaceae family.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 60-120cm. The rhizome is short and thick, 2.5-3cm thick, erect, dark brown in nature, with densely dark brown, linear scales at the tip and base of the petiole, about 1.5cm long, with ciliated branches curled at the top, rounded at the base, with long and curly cilia on the edges, shiny, membranous, and fluffy. The petiole is 2-5cm long, sturdy, brown-brown, and semicircular on the bottom after drying, with broad grooves on the top, smooth surface, and no wings on both sides of the base; the leaf blade is papery, glabrous on both sides, ribbon-shaped and broad-lanceolate, 55-115cm long, 9-15cm wide at the middle, gradually pointed at the apex, gradually narrowing and extending downward, entire, with cartilaginous edges, and curled up after drying; the dorsal surface of the midrib is semicircular, with broad grooves on the lower part of the surface, slightly raised and smooth on the upper part, and the lateral veins are slightly raised on both sides, obliquely upward, single or forked. The sori are linear, 3-4.5cm long, dorsally borne on the upper side of the bifurcated veinlets, extending from the base of the veinlets to 1/2 of the way from the leaf margin, slightly close to each other, and the lower part of the leaf blade is often sterile; the sori cover is linear, light brown, thickly membranous, entire, and persistent.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: epiphytic on tree trunks or rocks in rain forests. It is commonly cultivated in gardens or greenhouses in various places.

【Functions and indications】Strengthen tendons and bones; promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis. Main fracture; impotence; traumatic injury

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-15g; or soak in wine. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash fresh product for application.
