【Original form】 Evergreen shrub, 2-4m high. The buds, young branches, petioles, undersides of young leaves and pedicels are densely covered with dark red flat hairs. Petiole 4-5mm long; stipule scar is one-third of the petiole or almost reaches the tip of the petiole, simple leaves are alternate; leaves are leathery; leaf blades are oblong or narrowly obovate, 4-10cm long, 1.5-3.5m wide, with obtuse or short pointed apex, cuneate base, dark green and shiny above, with procumbent hairs below, 7-9 pairs of lateral veins, and reticulate veins raised on both sides when dry. The flowers are solitary in the leaf axils, with short and thick pedicels, 3-7mm long; the flowers are white and very fragrant; the perianth is 6-12(-17); the stamens are numerous, 0.5-1cm long; the pistil has many carpels, and the pistil group and petiole are covered with reddish-brown fine hairs. Aggregate fruit usually has only 5-8 follicles developed, which are oblate with a short tip. There are 1-2 seeds, which hang on a threadlike stalk when mature. The flowering period is March-April, and the fruiting period is August-September.
