[Source] Medicinal material source: The seeds of Taxus tachyphylla of the Taxaceae family.

[Original form] Shrub or small tree, up to 7m tall. The bark is gray-brown or light reddish-brown, cracking into thin flakes and falling off. The branches extend obliquely or upward, round or nearly square; annual branches are green, and 2-3 year old branches are green-yellow. The leaves are linear-lanceolate, straight or slightly curved in a sickle shape, 3-11 cm long, 6-11 mm wide, pointed or obtuse at the apex, gradually narrowed at the base, cuneate or broadly cuneate, with extremely short petioles, slightly curved edges, and the white stomatal band below is equal in width or narrower than the green side band. The male cones are clustered in 1-3 (usually 2) spikes, 5-6.5 cm long. The seeds are elliptical, 2-2.5 cm long and about 1.3 cm in diameter. When mature, the aril is bright red, with a stalk about 1.3 cm long and flat quadrangular. The flowering period is April and the seeds mature in October.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on the sides of shady and moist valleys or in forests at an altitude of 300-1100m.

[Chemical composition] The branches and stems contain chrysophanol, anthragallol-2,3-dimethyl ether, docosanoic acid, stearic acid and β-sitosterol.

【Functions and indications】 Deworming and eliminating accumulation. Mainly used for abdominal pain caused by parasite accumulation; infantile malnutrition

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 6-15g.
