【English name】 Tibet Velvetplant

[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Lithospermum officinale of the Asteraceae family.

[Original form] Stone vegetable is a perennial herb, about 1m tall. The stem is erect or semi-creeping, with sparse soft hairs, not branched or with umbel-shaped branches in the upper part. The leaves at the lower part of the stem are lanceolate, gradually narrowing to a petiole towards the base; the leaves at the upper part of the stem are oblong or slightly oblanceolate, 10-21cm long, 4-7.5cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, auriculate at the base, with triangular serrations on the margins, nearly glabrous above, and sparsely pubescent along the veins below. There are about 20 capitulums, arranged in terminal umbels, with slender pedicels and linear involucres; the involucres are tubular, 6-10mm in diameter; there are about 14 bracts, oblong-linear, 9-11mm long, gradually pointed at the apex, nearly glabrous on the outside, with membranous edges; there are many florets, all tubular, about 1.2mm long, extremely narrow at the bottom, with a swollen eaves, 5 teeth, and yellow in color. Achenes are oblong, about 2mm long, with 5-10 ribs, pubescent on the ribs; pappus white.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown in bamboo forests in the mountains or in moist places by rivers.

【Functions and indications】Repairs tendons and bones; disperses blood stasis and reduces swelling. Major fracture; Traumatic injury; Rheumatoid arthritis
