[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Julanhu chinensis, an orchidaceae plant.

[Original form] Zhulan, a terrestrial plant. Height 12-25cm. The rhizome is short and has 3-7 slender roots. Stem erect, slender, with 1 leaf in the middle or above. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate, acute, 3-8cm long and 8-15mm wide. Stand upright and stretch. 1 flower, lavender; bracts narrowly oblong, obtuse or acute at first, longer than ovary; sepals narrowly oblong nearly oblanceolate, equal in length, 15-22mm long, with 5 veins; petals nearly equal in length to sepals, but wider than sepals, 3-4mm, with 5 veins, lip narrowly oblong, base gradually narrowed, 3-lobed above the middle, lateral lobes shorter, with a few serrations at the tip, middle lobe long, tongue-shaped, with tassel-like serrations on the edge, with 2 longitudinal pleats from the base of the lip to the tip of the middle lobe, the pleats with obvious cockscomb-like protrusions on the middle lobe; syncellum slender, about 1cm long, slightly curved, with slightly enlarged upper edge. The flowering period is May-June, and the fruiting period is August-September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing under forests or in grass on hillsides at an altitude of 450-3000m.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet; neutral

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies. Mainly used for hepatitis, cholecystitis, carbuncle, ulcer, and snake bites

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
