[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of the Crassulaceae plant flame grass.

[Original form] Flame grass is an annual or biennial herb, 10-15cm tall. The whole plant is covered with glandular hairs. The stem is erect, relatively slender, with numerous oblique upward branches and slightly woody at the base. Leaves are alternate; petiole is 4-8mm long; leaf blade is triangular or triangular-ovate, 10-20mm long, 5-10mm wide, obtuse or acute at apex, broadly cuneate to truncate at base, entire. Inflorescence is terminal, sparsely branched, with many flowers; pedicels are 5-10mm long; sepals are 5, lanceolate to oblong, 1-2mm long; petals are 5, yellow, lanceolate-oblong, 3-5mm long; stamens are 10, in 2 whorls, shorter than petals, anthers are reniform, black-purple; scales are 5, broadly spoon-shaped to broadly cuneate, with a slight concave tip; carpels are 5, nearly erect, oblong, and the tip is narrowed into a short style. The fruit is follicle-like, slightly forked at the top and fused at the base. The seeds are oblong-ovate, 0.3-0.5mm long, with longitudinal stripes, and light brown. The flowering period is from June to August, and the fruiting period is from August to September.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Grown on hillsides or in cracks in valleys.

【Nature and flavor】 Slightly bitter; cool

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; cools blood and stops bleeding. It is mainly used for heat-toxic sores, breast abscesses, erysipelas, nameless swelling, burns caused by water or fire, sore throat, gingivitis, vomiting blood due to blood heat, hemoptysis, epistaxis, and bleeding due to trauma.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 10-30g, fresh product 50-100g; or mash into juice. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash it for application.
