[Source] Medicinal material source: The rhizome of Yinshi Pteris, a plant of the Drynariaceae family.

【Original morphology】Plant height 5-20cm. The rhizome is long and horizontal, covered with dense reddish-brown, lanceolate scales, and arranged in a shield shape. Leaves are distal; petiole 5-10cm long, reddish brown, sparsely scaly, almost smooth when old; leaf blade leathery, ovate-triangular, 5-10cm long, 3.5-5cm wide at base, gradually pointed to apex, smooth on both sides, semi-pinnate; pinnae 6-10 pairs, 1 pair at base is the largest, nearly triangular or triangular-lanceolate, obtuse, unequally wide at base, short cuneate and decurrent, often arched upward, often blunt-toothed above; deeply lobed below, 3-5 pinnae per time, the longest one on the lower side of the base, about 1-1.5cm, oblong, obtuse, slightly oblique downward, entire or lobed; pinnae gradually shorten from the second pair upwards, oblong-lanceolate, serrated at apex, lobed at margins; veins obvious on the back, pinnate-forked. The sori are attached along the leaf margins, with 3-5 pairs of pinnae at the tip; the sori cover is semicircular, brown and slightly shiny.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing on trees or rocks beside valley streams at an altitude of 500-1900m.

【Functions and indications】Promote blood circulation and stop bleeding; clear away heat and remove dampness; repair tendons and bones. It is mainly used for rheumatic pain, lumbar muscle strain, traumatic injury, toothache, vomiting blood, blood in stool, urinary tract infection, leucorrhea, carbuncle, swelling and pain

[Usage and Dosage] Oral administration: 30-60g, decocted in water. For external use: take appropriate amount and mash fresh product for application.
