[Source] Medicinal material source: the whole herb of Pteris cretica, a plant of the Pteridaceae family.

【Original morphology】 Plant height 15-35cm. The rhizome is thin, long and horizontal, densely covered with brown, ovate-lanceolate scales. Leaves are distal; petiole 2-5cm long, or nearly sessile, the same color as the leaf blade or slightly brownish at the bottom, sparsely covered with ovate-lanceolate scales at the base, smooth upwards; leaf blade nearly fleshy, lanceolate, 12-30cm long, 1-2cm wide in the middle, sometimes up to 3cm, with acuminate tip, gradually narrowing towards the base, often extending downwards and entire, slightly curled after drying; midrib flat above, raised below, not reaching the top, with reticulate veinlets without internal veinlets. Sori linear, ± depressed into the mesophyll, usually in more than 10 pairs, arranged in a row on each side of the midrib; sori cap absent.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: epiphytic on tree trunks and rocks on hillsides at an altitude of 200-1200m.

【Nature and flavor】 Slightly bitter; Cool in nature

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and detoxifies; acts as a diuretic. . Mainly used for urinary tract infection, sore throat, gastroenteritis, and rabies bites.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction, 15-30g.
