[Source] It is the root of the Gerbera pubescens plant of the Asteraceae family. Harvested in autumn and winter. Wash and dry.

[Original form] Perennial herb, 15 to 30 cm high. Roots slender, whisker-like, numerous. The leaves are basal, elliptic-ovate to oblong-lanceolate, 5-12 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, truncate at the base, decurrent, with wavy edges, green above and densely covered with grayish-white wool below; the petiole is 2-6 cm long. The flower stems emerge from the roots. The head inflorescence is solitary at the top; the involucral bracts are imbricate, in multiple rows, the outer bracts are subulate, gradually becoming lanceolate inward, and are all hairy; the flowers are white to pink, then turn light reddish purple, the ligulate flowers are female, the tubular flowers are bisexual, with 5 teeth at the apex, slightly 2-lipped. Achenes beaked, pappus spiny. Flowering period is from February to April.

[Habitat distribution] Grown on hillsides, forest edges, and in grass.

【Nature and flavor】 Spicy, slightly bitter, neutral.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat and dampness, regulates qi and resolves phlegm, and kills parasites. It can be used to treat dysentery, stomachache, cold and cough, asthma, sputum, indigestion, ascariasis, tonsillitis, and can stop bleeding when applied externally.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoction. 0.5~1 tael. For external use: grind into powder and sprinkle.
