[Source] It is the old root of radish , a cruciferous plant, which is made by sun-dried. After the seeds mature, pull them up with the roots, cut off the above-ground parts, take the roots, wash them with water and dry them. Store in a dry place.

[Original form] Produced throughout the country.

[Properties] The whole plant is cylindrical, 20 to 25 cm long, 3 to 4 cm in diameter, slightly flattened, slightly twisted, purple-red or gray-brown, with an uneven surface, wavy longitudinal wrinkles, which often cross each other to form a reticular texture, and have transversely arranged yellow-brown stripes and 2 to 3 cm long lateral roots or lateral root marks; the top has a hollow stem base, 1 to 4 cm long. The texture is light, and the broken surface is light yellowish white and loose. The best ones are dry, light yellow in color, white in flesh and light in weight.

[Preparation] Wash with water, moisten slightly, cut the top into small pieces of 2.5 cm long, and dry them in the sun.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet and spicy, neutral.

【Functions and indications】It can clear the lungs and resolve phlegm, help digestion and promote diuresis. It is used to treat cough with excessive sputum, food stagnation and qi stagnation, abdominal distension and pain, edema, shortness of breath, and lockjaw dysentery.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decoct in water, 0.3-1 liang; or make into pills. For external use: decoct in water and wash.
