Pharmacological effects of Zanthoxylum bungeanum

1. Impact on the digestive system. Effect on experimental gastric ulcer: Significantly inhibits the formation of hydrochloric acid ulcer in rats. The water extract of Zanthoxylum bungeanum can significantly inhibit the formation of pyloric ulcer in rats. It can resist diarrhea in mice caused by castor oil, and the effect is not only fast but also long-lasting. It can delay the onset of diarrhea and has a slow-acting effect against senna-induced diarrhea in mice. It can significantly inhibit gastrointestinal motility.

2. Effects on experimental thrombosis and coagulation system: Experimental in vivo thrombosis was induced by electrical stimulation of the arterial wall of rats, and its effect on coagulation function was measured simultaneously. The experimental results show that the water extract of Zanthoxylum bungeanum has a significant inhibitory effect on thrombosis in rats and can significantly prolong the time of experimental thrombosis, suggesting that it has the effect of preventing thrombosis. The antithrombotic and anticoagulant effects of Zanthoxylum bungeanum may be related to the anticoagulant components of platelet-functional vascular endothelial cells.

3. Analgesic effect : 5-10g/kg of water extract and 3.0-6.0ml/kg of ether extract of Zanthoxylum bungeanum have a significant inhibitory effect on the writhing reaction of mice induced by acetic acid.

4. Antibacterial effect: The volatile oil of this product has a certain inhibitory and killing effect on 11 dermatophytes and 4 deep fungi, among which Microsporum woolly and Trichophyton rubrum are the most sensitive.

5. Anti-insect effect: The volatile oil contained in Sichuan pepper can cause serious poisoning of pig ascaris in warm Ren's solution.

6. Other effects: The artemisinin contained in this product has ephedrine-like effects, but the intensity is weaker. It can increase the blood pressure of anesthetized cats, enhance the contraction of nictitating membranes, strengthen the effects of adrenaline on blood pressure and uterus, enhance the contraction of the uterus in situ of cats or rabbits, inhibit the contraction of the small intestine and dilate coronary blood vessels, increase the tension of skeletal muscles, and enhance the excitability of spinal reflexes. It has strong antibacterial effect.
