Achyranthes bidentata, as the name suggests, is a traditional Chinese medicine that looks like a cow's knee. Huai Niuxi is a type of Niuxi, also known as Tu Niuxi, Wild Niuxi, etc. This kind of Achyranthes bidentata is different from Sichuan Achyranthes bidentata. It mainly grows in Jiaozuo, Henan Province. The characteristics of Huaihai Achyranthes bidentata are: thick, bright, colorful and oily strips. Chinese rhizome Achyranthes bidentata is a commonly used and major Chinese medicinal material and one of the famous "Four Major Huai Medicines".

Efficacy and function

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that Chinese rhubarb tastes slightly bitter and sour, is cold in nature and non-toxic. It belongs to the heart, liver, and large intestine meridians. Promote blood circulation and dissipate blood stasis, remove dampness and promote urination, clear away heat and detoxify. It is mainly used to treat gonorrhea, hematuria, amenorrhea in women, abdominal masses, rheumatism, joint pain, athlete's foot, edema, dysentery, malaria, diphtheria, carbuncle, and trauma.

1. Promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis

This product is slippery and good at moving, and is good at promoting blood circulation and dredge menstruation, removing blood stasis and relieving pain. Therefore, it is often used for symptoms of blood stasis such as amenorrhea, dysmenorrhea, irregular menstruation, abdominal pain due to blood stasis after childbirth, abdominal masses and traumatic injuries.

It can not only promote blood circulation and remove blood stasis, but also nourish the liver and kidneys and strengthen the tendons and bones. 3. To treat retained placenta: 8 liang of Achyranthes bidentata and 1 liang of sunflower seeds. Use nine liters of water, boil it and take three liters, divided into three doses. ("Meishi Ji Yan Fang")

4. To treat pain from wounds caused by metal: mash raw Achyranthes bidentata and apply it on the wound. ("Meishi Ji Yan Fang")

How to eat

Achyranthes bidentata can be used raw to make wine or as a drink; it can be cooked and added to stews, soups, and hot pots.

Achyranthes bidentata and loofah soup

Ingredients: 300g loofah, 20g Achyranthes bidentata, 50g pork (lean), 25g starch (corn), 100g egg;

practice:

1. Remove impurities from the Achyranthes bidentata, soak it thoroughly and cut it into 3 cm long segments. Wash the loofah, peel it and cut it into 3 cm square slices. Wash the pork and cut into 3 cm square slices;

2. Then crack the egg white, add starch, soy sauce, and cooking wine, mix well, cut the ginger into shreds, and cut the green onion into sections;

3. Heat the wok over high heat, add vegetable oil, and when the oil is 60% hot, add shredded ginger and scallions and sauté until fragrant;

4. Add 1800 ml of water and bring to a boil over high heat;

5. Then add the loofah, meat slices and Achyranthes bidentata and cook until done. Add salt and chicken essence.

Chinese Rhizoma Achyranthis Bidentatae Pork Ribs Soup

Ingredients: Chinese rhubarb, spare ribs, radish, ginger slices, cooking wine, salt;

practice:

1. Wash and soak the Chinese rhubarb for 4 hours, wash and cut the radish into pieces, wash and blanch the ribs, and wash off the foam;

2. Put the ribs, Chinese rhubarb, soaking water, radish, ginger slices, and cooking wine into the pressure cooker and add appropriate amount of water;

3. Cover and cook over high heat. After the water starts to boil, cook for 10 minutes and then turn off the heat.

After reducing the pressure, open the pot, add appropriate amount of salt, stir evenly and serve.
