[Source] The whole plant of the Orchidaceae plant. Harvested in winter.

[Original form] Perennial herb. Roots coarse and fibrous. The stem is 30 to 90 cm tall and usually has many leaves. The leaves are large and thick, rectangular, 8 to 15 cm long, 2.5 to 5 cm wide, gradually pointed at the apex, narrowing at the base into a long and thick petiole, with the uppermost part degenerated into a sheath-like bract. The inflorescence is densely spiked, 7 to 15 cm long; the bracts are membranous, about the same length as the flowers; the flowers are small, white and light green, about 3 mm in diameter, and fragrant; the sepals are ovate, about 2 mm long; the petals are narrow, spoon-shaped, the lip is sac-shaped, with soft hairs on the inside, obtuse at the apex, reflexed outside, and with two hard convex bodies inside. Capsule fusiform. Flowering period: spring and summer.

[Habitat distribution] It grows in mountain streams and wetlands, or grows epiphytically on stone walls. Distributed in Sichuan, Yunnan, Guangdong and other places. Produced in Sichuan.

[Properties] The whole plant is dried, with several roots, which are gray-brown, curved and entangled with each other, covered with yellow cotton hairs, and are relatively tough. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate, brown-yellow, or greenish, wrinkled, tough and not easily broken. No smell, spicy taste.

【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, pungent, warm.

【Functions and indications】 Dispel wind and dampness, nourish blood and relax muscles. Treats wind-cold-dampness arthralgia and hemiplegia.

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3 to 5 qian; or soaked in wine.
