Harris Poll: 47% of respondents said they would shop after the shopping season ends

Although the holiday season is officially over, many people are still in the holiday spirit as 2015 approaches. Instead of wrapping presents and decorating walls, consumers are relaxing with family and friends, enjoying shopping, and learning how to use the new gadgets they received during the holiday season.

In a November 2014 Harris Poll study, U.S. smartphone users were asked what they wanted to do between December 25 and 31. Respondents tended to plan to do something with family and friends (58%), so movie theaters and restaurants should take note.

Retailers should also take note, as 47% of respondents said they would shop after the holidays to prepare for the New Year. According to a PricewaterhouseCoopers survey in August 2014, consumers will buy some goods for themselves after the shopping season, and only 8% of American Internet users plan to do holiday shopping after the holidays are over.
