【Properties】 Dried rhizomes and tubers. The complete tuber is spindle-shaped, 1 to 3 cm long, 2 to 5 mm in diameter, with a yellowish-white to khaki surface and fleshy texture. There are irregular wrinkles. The broken surface is pale yellowish white. The taste is slightly sweet.

【Chemical composition】 The rhizome contains arundinone and cypermethrin.

【Nature and flavor】 Sweet, cold.

【Functions and indications】 Clears away heat, promotes diuresis, and promotes abortion.

[Additional prescription] ① For treating nephritis: 50 cents each of Lophatherum gracile root and Dioscorea scabra. Take it in decoction, one dose per day. (Jiangxi Herbal Medicine)
