[Source] It is the whole herb of Rue, a plant of the Poaceae family . Cut the above-ground parts in late summer and early autumn and dry them in the sun or in the air. [Original form] Perennial herb. The leaf sheath is glabrous, the base ones are often cracked, and the upper ones are shorter than the internodes; the ligule is obtuse, 2-4 mm long, membranous, and the tip is often irregularly cracked; the leaf blade is narrowly linear; 30-70 cm long, 1-6 mm wide, nearly glabrous on both sides, with white powder. The pseudopanicle is sparse, narrow, 15-45 cm long; the racemes are twin, extremely divergent or divergent backwards when mature, black-purple, 15-30 mm long, with 3-5 nodes, supported by spathes; the internodes of the spike axis are about 3 mm long, with white short soft hairs on the edges; the same-sex pairs of spikelets with stalks are completely degenerate, or only one underdeveloped glume remains, and its stalk is white soft hairs; the sessile spikelets are oblong-lanceolate, with white short hairs at the base; the first glume has 2 fine teeth at the end; the second one is boat-shaped, with an acute or small pointed tip; the first lemma is about 1/3 shorter than the glume, and the apex is slightly obtuse; the second lemma is about half the length of the glume, very narrow, with 2-lobed teeth at the apex; the awn extends from between the teeth, about 12 mm long, and geniculate in the middle; the palea is absent; there are 3 stamens, and the anthers are 2.5 mm long. Flowering and fruiting period is from September to October. [Habitat distribution] Growing on hillside grasslands. Distributed in Gansu, Shaanxi, Sichuan, Guizhou, Yunnan and other places. Produced in Sichuan. [Properties] The whole dried herb is gray-green or brown-yellow, with thin and weak stems, 40 to 110 cm long, nearly glabrous, with swollen nodes, brittle and easy to break; the leaf sheaths are nearly glabrous, those at the base of the phimosis are often cracked, and those at the top are shorter than the internodes; the ligules are obtuse, membranous, and often cracked at the tips; the leaves are narrowly linear, up to 30 to 70 cm long, and nearly glabrous on both sides. The aroma is unique and fragrant, and it feels suffocating if you smell it for a long time. It tastes spicy and has a numbing and cool feeling when chewed. [Chemical composition] The whole plant contains acidic saponins, tannins, proteins, mucilage, bitter substances, sugars and phenolic substances. 【Pharmacological action】 ①Antiasthmatic effect 【Nature and flavor】 Bitter, cool. 【Functions and indications】Relieves exterior symptoms, promotes diuresis, relieves asthma and relieves cough. Treat heatstroke, colds, gonorrhea, rheumatism, muscle and bone pains, and chronic bronchitis. [Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 3-5 qian (1-2 liang for large dose); soaked in wine. For external use: decoction for fumigation and washing. [Additional prescription] ① Treat rheumatic pain in the muscles and bones: decoct and take lemongrass, millennium-strong, large blood clove, and relaxed tendon grass. (Sichuan Traditional Chinese Medicine Records) [Clinical Application] Treatment of chronic bronchitis: Rue has been made into various dosage forms and is widely tried. According to 835 observations using oral preparations, the total effective rate was 81.6% to 88.8%, of which the short-term control rate was 7% to 18.9% and the significant effective rate was 23.6% to 45.9%. 595 cases were given winter treatment. After half a year and one year of observation, the total effective rate was still 75.5%, which was higher in efficacy and lower in recurrence rate than the group without winter treatment. The symptoms of the relapsed cases were milder than in previous years, indicating that rue herb preparations seem to have the effect of consolidating the therapeutic effect. If the aerosol made from piperitone, the active ingredient in rue, is sprayed and inhaled, the therapeutic effect will be significantly improved. According to observations of 217 cases, the effective rate was 92%, the clinical control rate was about 20%, and the marked effect rate was 38% to 54%. The average onset time is 15 minutes, the average duration is 2 hours 45 minutes to 4 hours, and the longest is 16 hours. Practice has shown that rue herb preparations have obvious antiasthmatic effects, while their cough and expectorant effects are slightly less effective, and they also have certain antibacterial effects. Preparation and usage: 1. Rue extract tablets: 0.3 g per tablet, 2 to 3 tablets each time (if taken together with rue oil preparations, it can have a synergistic effect in treatment); 2. Rue oil capsules: each capsule contains 0.5 or 0.3 ml of rue oil, 2 to 3 capsules each time after meals; 3. Piperitone capsules: each capsule contains 0.5 or 0.3 ml of piperine, 1 to 2 capsules each time, after meals; 4. Sodium bisulfite piperitone tablets and pills: each tablet (capsule) contains 0.3 or 0.5 g of sodium bisulfite piperitone, 1 to 1.5 g each time. For patients with emphysema and acidosis, the acidosis should be corrected before taking this product, otherwise the effect will not be obvious. All the above preparations are taken three times a day, and one course of treatment is 10 days. ㈤ Rue aerosol: Each bottle contains 1.5 ml of piperitone (can be sprayed 150 times). Inhale 3 times in a row 3 times a day for 10 consecutive days. Side effects: Oral administration of rue oil and piperitone preparations may cause gastrointestinal reactions such as nausea, vomiting, and heartburn. In some cases, gingival swelling and pain and nosebleeds may occur. There are generally no gastrointestinal reactions when taking sodium bisulfite piperitone preparations; only a few patients experience dizziness, headache, palpitations, fatigue, diarrhea, and abdominal distension 2 to 6 days after taking the medicine, but they are all mild and do not affect continued medication. When using aerosol, some patients may experience temporary choking and coughing. 【Excerpt】 《*Dictionary》 [Source] From "Sichuan Chinese Materia Medica".
