Leaves are alternate, ovate to ovate-lanceolate, 2-5 cm long, 2-3 cm wide, obtuse or slightly pointed at the apex, rounded at the base, often with 2 short tails, finely serrated at the margin, bald or sparsely pubescent; lower leaves are smaller and rounded; petioles are 1-2 cm long and pubescent; stipules are linear-conical. The flowers are small, yellow, and clustered in groups of 1 to 4 on a peduncle: the pedicel is short and has segments; there are 4 or 5 sepals and petals; and there are many stamens. The capsule is cylindrical, 1.8 to 3 cm long. It has 6 to 8 ribs, 3 to 4 of which have wings, and 3 to 4 beak-like protrusions at the top. The seeds are tiny. Flowering period is July. Fruiting period is September.

[Habitat distribution] Roadside, grassland, open land, hillside, forest edge, and field ridges. Distributed in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Anhui, Fujian, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Taiwan and other places. Produced in Guangdong and Guangxi.
