[Source] Medicinal material source: The bark of Myrsinaceae plant Myrsinaceae.

[Original form] Small tree, 6-8(-15)m tall, with sturdy twigs, rough bark, covered with rusty scales when young. Leaves are alternate; petiole is about 1cm long, with narrow wings and grooves; leaf blade is leathery, obovate or broadly oblanceolate, 11-17cm long, 4-6cm wide, sometimes up to 23cm long, 8.5cm wide, apex obtuse and acute or broadly acute, base cuneate, decurrent, entire, often reflexed, opposite side flat, back side densely covered with scales; lateral veins are numerous, connected into marginal veins near the edge, without glandular dots. The panicle is composed of multi-hyphenate umbels, terminal or subterminal, 10-14cm long, and scaly; the pedicels are 3-8mm long and scaly; the calyx is united at the base, the sepals are narrowly triangular-ovate or lanceolate, acute at the apex, 1-1.5mm long, ciliate, and glabrous; the petals are pink to purple-red, ovate, obtuse at the apex, and about 3mm long; the stamens are almost the same length as the petals, the anthers are ovate, and the apex is tapering; the pistil is the same length as the petals or slightly longer. The fruit is spherical, about 6mm in diameter, purple-red to purple-black, and has no glandular dots. The flowering period is from June to July (-August), sometimes reaching February of the following year.

[Habitat distribution] Ecological environment: Growing in valleys and dense forests on hillsides at an altitude of 250-2000m.

【Functions and indications】Nourishes Qi and blood; strengthens tendons and bones. Mainly used for abdominal pain, joint pain, and postpartum weakness

[Usage and Dosage] For oral use: decocted in water, 9-15g.
