[Original form] Carex scapuli, perennial herb, 50-60cm tall. The rhizome is thick and long. The culm is stout, with three obtuse edges and sparsely covered with short, coarse hairs. Basal leaves are narrowly elliptic to linear-elliptic, 20-35cm long and 3-4cm wide; petioles are 20-40cm long; culm leaves are degenerate and only have leaf sheaths. The panicle is compound, 8-20cm long; the lateral branch inflorescences are oblong or triangular-ovate; the peduncle and rachis are densely covered with short coarse hairs and rust-dot lines; the bracts are spathe-shaped, sparsely covered with short coarse hairs; the spikelets all grow from the capsule, ovate, 5-8mm long, nearly horizontally spreading, in male and female order; the female flower scales are ovate or ovate-acicular, 2-2.5mm long, light brown, densely rust-dot lines, gradually pointed at the apex, sparsely covered with short coarse hairs on the margin and apex, with 3 veins. The fruit capsule is ovate-elliptical, slightly longer than the scales, triangular, densely rusty, with many veins, acute at the apex to form a long beak, the beak is nearly the same length as the capsule body, and the mouth is obliquely fissured. The nutlets are ovate, about 1.5 mm long, triangular, with enlarged style base and 3 stigmas.
