[Original form] Viburnum truncatum is a small shrub, up to 2m tall. Young branches, buds, and leaves are pubescent on the veins below; winter buds have a pair of narrow scales. Leaves opposite; petiole 6-10 (-15) mm long; leaves thick papery or leathery, leaf blade oblong, oblong-lanceolate or obovate-oblong, 6-11 cm long, 2-4 cm wide, apex shortly pointed to nearly rounded, base broadly cuneate or nearly rounded, margin shallowly serrated except at base, apex slightly convex, dark green and shiny above, lateral veins 5-6 pairs, arcuate, together with the midrib very concave above, obviously convex below, and veinlets slightly convex below. The panicle is terminal, about 3cm long and 2cm wide; the peduncle is slender, about 2cm long; the calyx tube is tubular and bell-shaped, about 2mm long, and the calyx margin has 5 micro-teeth; the corolla is white, funnel-shaped, about 6mm in diameter, the corolla tube is about 5mm long and 2mm in diameter, and the lobes are nearly round and about 3mm long; the stamens are hidden; the style is slender, much higher than the calyx teeth, and the stigma is capitate. The drupe is red, broadly oval, about 9mm long and 6mm in diameter; the core is more or less irregularly hexagonal with a closed tubular deep ventral groove.
