[Original form] Bole tree, up to 20m tall. Odd-pinnate compound leaves are up to 80 cm long; petioles are 10-18 cm long, petiolules are 2-10 mm long; leaflets are 7-13, opposite, oblong, narrowly ovate or narrowly obovate, asymmetrical, 9-20 cm long, 3.5-8 cm wide, glabrous above, pinkish green or grayish white beneath, covered with short soft hairs. The raceme is terminal, 20-30cm long, with axis densely covered with rusty pubescence; the pedicel is 2-3cm long; the calyx is bell-shaped, 1.2-1.7cm long, with 5 inconspicuous teeth, densely covered with pubescence on the outside; there are 5 petals, pink, about 2cm long, with red longitudinal stripes on the inside; they are attached to the upper part of the calyx tube; there are 5-9 stamens; the ovary has 3 chambers, with 2 ovules in each chamber. The capsule is ellipsoidal or nearly spherical, 2-4cm long, woody, and about 2.5mm thick. Seeds nearly spherical. The flowering period is from March to September, and the fruiting period is from May to April of the following year.

[Cultivation] Biological characteristics: It prefers a cool, humid environment with abundant rainfall. It is suitable for growing in mountainous areas with an altitude of 500-1500m. When cultivated in areas with an altitude of about 100m, it grows more slowly. It is not very demanding on soil, but good drainage, deep and humus-rich loam is preferred.
