[Source] It is the whole herb of the leguminous plant Oryza sativa .

[Original form] Annual shrubby herb, 15 to 90 cm tall. The stem is thin and has many branches. Pinnate compound leaves; leaflets 8 to 14, rectangular, 3 to 7 mm long, 1 to 2.5 mm wide, rounded at apex with a bristle-like short tip, obliquely rounded at base, with small prickles on margin and midrib below; petiole with small prickles, 3 to 9 mm long; stipules membranous, decurrent, glabrous. Inflorescences axillary; pedicels short. There are 2 bracteoles, ovate, persistent, sparsely covered with small prickles; calyx has 2 lips, 6-8 mm long, with acute lips, entire margin, sparsely covered with small prickles, which gradually fall off after fruiting; corolla is yellow, the standard petal is obovate, slightly concave at the apex, without claws, the wing petals are shorter than the standard petal, rectangular, with claws, and the keel petals are nearly the same length as the wing petals; there are 2 groups of stamens, 5 stamens in each group. The pods have 4 to 6 nodes, which are folded and enclosed in the calyx and have small tubercles.

[Habitat distribution] Grown on the edge of fields or in low and wet places. Distributed in Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian, Yunnan, Sichuan, Taiwan and other places.

【Functions and indications】 Treat cough and leptospirosis.

[Usage and Dosage] For internal use: decoct in water, 2 to 4 liang (fresh).

[Additional prescription] For the treatment of leptospirosis: 2 to 4 liang each of field lip fly wings, Houttuynia cordata, and golden flower grass, -2 to 2 liang of pond kudzu, and 4 to 8 liang of fine-leaved baby's breath. All use fresh whole herbs. Take one dose per day, decocted in water and taken in three to four times, for more than ten days. For patients with severe fever and muscle pain, add one to two liang of Menggusuo; for patients with oliguria or red urine, add one to two liang of Plantago; for patients with physical weakness and cold, add one liang of Paiqianshu.
