[Original morphology] The body is slender, slightly cylindrical, and the posterior section is more laterally flattened. The body length is about 7 to 8 cm. The head is flat. The mouth is small, the snout is short and blunt, and the lower jaw is slightly long. There is a row of fine teeth on each of the upper and lower jaws, and no teeth on the mouth cover; there are also no canine teeth at the front end of the lower jaw. Dorsal fin II 12-14, distance from starting point to snout tip is 2.5 times distance to tail base. Anal fin III 21-24, located below and behind the dorsal fin, with a small and transparent adipose fin behind the dorsal fin. The body is soft and scaleless except for a row of larger scales on each side of the base of the male fish's anal fin. When alive, the whole body is transparent, and the shape of the brain can be clearly seen from behind the head; after death, the body turns milky white. The fins are relatively transparent and colorless, and there is a row of small black spots on the ventral surface of each side of the body.
