[Source] It is the root or whole herb of Lespedeza bicolor, a plant of the Leguminosae family.

[Original form] Deciduous shrub, 1 to 3 meters high. The stems and branches are ridged and winged, densely covered with white hairs. Trifoliate compound leaves; petiole 2-8 cm long; leaflets broadly obovate or ovate, 4.5-7 cm long, 3-5 cm wide, lateral leaflets smaller, rounded or slightly emarginate at apex, rounded base, entire, both surfaces and petiole initially densely covered with silky hairs, which gradually fall off. The inflorescence is a raceme, forming a panicle at the branch end, all covered with silky hairs; the bracteoles are linear-lanceolate; the calyx is deeply lobed into 5 parts, and the lobes are linear-lanceolate; the corolla is light blue-purple, about 1 cm long, the standard petal is the same length as the keel petal, and the wing petals are shorter; there are 10 stamens, in 2 bundles; there is 1 pistil. The pods are obovate-elliptical, about 1 cm long, and bloom from July to September. The fruiting period is from October to November.

[Habitat distribution] Growing on dry hillsides and in grass at the edge of forests. Distributed in Zhejiang, Jiangxi, Hunan, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou and other places.

[Additional prescription] For treating menstrual sha (dizziness, blurred vision, or heavy headache, no sweating, soreness and numbness in the upper body): 1 liang of Hexandria leaves or roots, 5 to 6 qian of Loropetalum leaves, 4 to 5 qian of Imperata root, 1 liang of Perilla frutescens, and a few qian of roasted and peeled old ginger.
